2020: Such A Horrible Year That Even YouTube Won't Remember

The giant Google appreciates from time to time to think outside the box, offering here and there rather unusual features or content. On YouTube, we are usually entitled to a "Rewind" video at the end of the year ...

Every year since 2010, YouTube has released a “Rewind” video towards the end of the year. The idea is simple, it is a question of making a brief recap of the entire past year, highlighting some of the most significant events of the last twelve months. Sometimes the result is not really successful, as in 2018, but YouTube lends itself to the exercise every year, to the delight of fans and users. This year 2020 is different .

YouTube Will Not Feature Rewind 2020 Video

Still, unfortunately, with the terrible year 2020 which has just passed, it seems that YouTube does not consider this year “worthy” to be entitled to its video “Rewind”. In a message shared via Twitter, YouTube explains in particular: “2020 was different. It doesn't seem fair to pretend it hasn't. So we'll skip this year's Rewind. ”

The Past Year Having been far Too “Different”

2020 has indeed been a very bad year due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has infected millions of people on the planet. This virus has caused the death of nearly 1.3 million people at the time of this writing and the resulting health crisis has shut down many businesses, leading to many layoffs. There really isn't much to celebrate in this year 2020. That's why YouTube made the decision that it wasn't really appropriate to make a Rewind video.

That being said, we can only hope today that 2021 will be a better year. With the many vaccine projects in development, we must stay positive and tell ourselves that in the course of next year, our lives will be able to regain some semblance of normalcy. Until then, we continue to protect ourselves and others by limiting our movements as much as possible and by applying barrier gestures.
