It is not shocking that hackers are able to conduct scams and cyber attacks on unanticipated users and companies with the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19). Anomali a cybersecurity firm has found another Ponzi scheme, that the threat actors are infecting android phones with fake COVID-19 contact tracing applications.

These malicious applications are specifically created to infect users with devices with spyware, Trojan & Adware. According to the cybersecurity team at Anomali, they discover 12 apps which targeting 10 different countries; Brazil, Singapore, Armenia, Columbia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, & Russia.

The great news is that this app has not been published to Playstore yet but you should not be shocked if it does. Till then, internet sites and third-party mobile apps stores are now in conduct in the distribution for these apps. It now very advisable to only install apps from the Google Playstore and AppStore to protect your device from such attacks.
